Q: What is Vote Wally?
A: It's a movement to get Wally Backman back into affiliated baseball.
Q: Why?
A: Wally Backman was blackballed because he doesn't fit MLB's corporate image.
Q: Does Wally Backman deserve a job in affiliated baseball?
A: We think so, based on his accomplishments (numerous championships and league manager of the year awards... and the 2004 Sporting News Minor League Manager of the Year Award). But the fact is, WALLY BACKMAN HASN'T BEEN INTERVIEWED FOR AN AFFILIATED JOB SINCE 2004.
Q: Didn't Wally Backman have a DUI in 2004?
A: No. Backman's DUI was in 1999, he plead guilty in 2001.
Q: Why should he get a chance to manage or coach if he has a DUI?
A: Because he deserves a second chance. Ever hear of Tony LaRussa? How's that for a double standard?

Q: Who is Vote Wally?
A: We are baseball fans. Some of us know Backman personally, some of us have played for him. Some of us have simply seen him manage our local minor league team. Our group also includes filmmaker John Fitzgerald - creator of the documentary TV show Playing for Peanuts, a show that documented Backman's 2007 season with the South Georgia Peanuts.
Check back soon. In the meantime, spread the word.
